May’s “Thing to Read” is “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. This is without question one of those books that absolutely everyone should have in their home library. It lays out four simple rules for living a good life. The third of these is “don’t take anything personally” and relates directly to the theme of this month’s RARE SENSE post. The book is short. I listened to the audio version on 1.25x speed, and it only took two hours. It’s also written with an almost child-like simplicity of style, but the message is one we all need to hear. Profundity of prose doesn’t require length or complexity.
