July’s RARE SENSE post “Learning to Cry” was about repressed emotions and how they can get trapped in the body. If you want to learn more about the science of how this works, complete with personal stories of healing, I highly recommend “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel van der Kolk.
A key insight during my mind fitness journey was realizing how things like trauma (specifically our reactions to it) can affect us physically. I understood this general concept anecdotally for years based on my own experiences, but this book truly cemented it in my psyche as a fact.
