This week’s training is a simple journaling exercise aimed at shifting our thoughts from emotions like regret to ones like gratitude. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to feel those things simultaneously. The more we practice viewing the past through a thankful lens, the more prone we are to automatically observe anything that happens this way.
Write down at least three highlights from the day every night before bed. Even if you’ve had a “bad day,” find the proverbial silver linings. I take this drill from The Five Minute Journal, which has been a fantastic addition to my mind fitness regimen. As someone who isn’t naturally inclined to journal, it’s been instrumental in getting me to perform some measure of it daily. I highly recommend picking one up if you are in the same boat. But feel free to write down your daily highlights on whatever you like: a piece of paper, a yellow sticky, or a cocktail napkin. It’s the habit that’s important.

Mind Fitness - Week of 09/11/23
Nothing I like more than to make someone laugh!
Writing is a wonderful way to be close to yourself. I'm in the process of getting rid of very old journals as I don't want my daughter to know how crazy I was! Thank you Chris.
